CSMG's "Synesthesia: Echoes of Black Mountain College"
featuring guest composer Chuck Johnson
November 10, 2000CSMG is Duke's student-initiated new-music ensemble. Black Mountain College was a school in the mountains of NC which featured an innovative, interdisciplinary, arts-driven curriculum for many decades (sorry, don't remember the exact years of its existence). This concert features works by composers associated with the college (John Cage, Lou Harrison, Steven Wolpe) as well as other pieces inspired by or that capture the spirit of Black Mountain College.
Chuck Johnson is an outstanding guitarist and composer who's played many an AIM-sponsored show, though he's probably best known for his work in Spatula and Idyll Swords.
