Scott Fields Trio

The group is a trio of Scott Fields (guitar), Ray Kaczynski (percussion) and Jason Lee Roebke (double bass), of which, when labels are requested, is described as "concentrating on free- and post-free jazz compositions and improvisation."
Scott Fields is a guitarist and composer who developed as part of the Chicago free-jazz scene in the 1960s and early 1970s. After an extended hiatus, Fields resumed playing improvised music about eight years ago, appearing at festivals, clubs, and concert halls throughout the United States. He has also written music for choreographers such as Kristy Sesso and Li-Chiao Ping and has performed and recorded with artists such as Joseph Jarman, Marilyn Crispell, Hamid Drake, Michael Zerang, and Larry Ochs He studied classical guitar with Sherry Conway, George Lindquist, and Javier Calder, jazz guitar with Carl Michel and Roger Brotherhood, and composition and theory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Ray Kaczynski is an authority on South Indian classical percussion and dance. He has performed and recorded throughout Europe and the United States with such artists as Joe Lovano, James Williams, Billy Pierce, Jimmy Knepper, Richard Davis, Jaki Byard, David Murray, Julius Hemphill, Tom Chapin, Don Byron, Sirone Jones, Conrad Bauer, Kubie Kubach, Mathias Bauer, Georg Katzer, George Pfister, Johannes Barthlemews, Dan Gottschall, John Schroeeder, Kaliq Fuazi, and Jorgos Psiracas. He was composer at the Wesleyan University Dance Department for 6 years and has earned numerous residencies and fellowships at institutions such as Duke University, the Aspen Music Festival, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Jason Lee Roebke is a composer, improviser and multi-instrumentalist. As a double bassist, Roebke has played with a variety of new music, dance and jazz ensembles from Randy Sabien to Roscoe Mitchell and Li Chiao-Ping. He has also studied composition and improvisation with Ornette Coleman and Roscoe Mitchell.
