Re: Deed of Gift

While our deed of gift does not specify contacting the donor,
it does say materials not needed will be disposed of in accordance
with library policy. Our internal written policy for Special Collections
provides us with the option of (1) contacting the donor--which we
usually use if fairly recent--we've returned money, checks,
jewelry and the like; and (2) transfer to another library, archives,
educational institution, museum, etc. We obviously don't specify
all this in the Deed of Gift, but you can make reference to policies
of your institution and be prepared to share those with the donor
if need be.
