The Brooklyn Museum of Art is continuing the search for a
temporary (3 month) project archivist to assist with planning
for a major project.  This position could lead into a 3-year appointment,
pending anticipated grant funding. We are also open to working with
part-time people during the planning process.

Project Archivist
Master's degree with a specialization in archival administration;
practical experience in archival work  (internship or paid position) is
essential. Experience surveying collections and planning projects
important.
Under the supervision of the Principal Librarian and Museum Archivist,
carry out responsibilities as defined under a grant-funded project to
highlight and make more widely available select archival materials.
This staff member, working with the Museum staff and other project
consultants, will identify  materials of high research value that are
appropriate for digitization and EAD in preparation for formatting
research collections for the Web. This staff member will also: survey
collections, compile exact extents, estimate processing time, identify
preservation issues and estimate stabilization costs with Library
Preservation Staff; compile statistics needed for budgeting, particularly
counts of materials to be digitized; review Libraries/Archives documentary
photograph collections survey and compile comprehensive list of
collections in preparation for some level of digital imaging; review
New York State Historical Documents Inventory records to identify any
additional materials for project.
Starts immediately. Grant funded position of 3 months duration
35 hours/week
Salary:$19.50/hour
