Public archives customer services

Our Commonwealth of Massachusetts have a number of public
libraries like city of Boston public library departments and
municipal archives whose practices are models of bad
examples. By sidelining some of the most interested
potential readers and researchers for having not easily
conformed or having not been automatically accepting our
more problematical institutional practices we have failed in
the mission and mandate of archival management for
legitimate public accessibility. Even institutional
personnel and personnel unions' collective bargaining labor
relations advocates can run up against their very own
institutional culture. For example city of Boston
environmental hazards consultants' reports are not readily
accessible at BPL.

1. What kinds of customer services have you public archives
folks out there developed to ease novices into your world
who might be uncomfortable or intimidated by your own
   institutional culture?...

2. What Web links are there or other materials that
emphasize the customer services approach and customer
services attitudes that institutions can consider
   developing?...
