Map preservation
Dear Colleagues:
This morning I had a call from a little lady out in the hinterlands of
Texas, who wanted to do something to preserve the maps in her
museum. After some conversation, I realized the maps she has are
4 feet by 9 feet! They are on linen and are rolled in
mahogany tubes in a special desk. People still use them. We
talked about photocopying them and microfilming them. Encapsulation
seems out of the question. The museum doesn't have much money for
doing much of anything. Any ideas?
