Audio-visual materials workshop

The Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists is hosting an AMIGOS Preservation Services workshop on the preservation of audio-visual materials, 4 May 2000 in Carson City, Nevada.

There are still spots available!

This is a full-day course taught by Tom Clareson covering the diverse group of materials and formats collectively known as audio-visual media: videotapes, audiotapes, motion picture films and film strips, LPs, CDs, and CD-ROMs. Participants will come to understand the various causes of damage and deterioration to audio-visual materials and ways to minimize damage through proper storage, care, and handling. Identification of different formats, repair and reformatting options, and security of audio-visual media will also be addressed.

The registration fee for the workshop is $50.00.

The workshop will be followed by CIMA's Annual Conference with sessions on disaster planning, reference in an electronic era, practical applications of imaging technology, the nature of folk arts archives, the development of archival collections in local museums, and how to put together a successful Archives Week.
