Re: Russian collections in Canada

Hello,

Kermit Karnes, the man who received the award, is well known in Missouri and Kansas for his genealogical efforts to preserve records, including those of the Germans From Russia. He is currently residing in Nebraska but was very active in the Mo/KS genealogical community for decades.

I notice that no one has mentioned the Germans to America repository at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I don't recall the exact name of the repository but can find the address should anyone be interested. It has been around for quite a few years and is well known in the Midwest.

Lynn, this may be a little far afield. MAC gave the President's Award this
year to a man who developed a collection and index at the State Historical
Society of North Dakota on North Dakota Germans who emigrated from Russia.
