Archiving Websites
Hello,
I'm also embarked on a project to archive websites and I've tried
two different software packages. I'm not completely satisfied
with either but I'll quickly sum up my thoughts and you can check
them out yourself.
I've tried a product called Web Whacker (Windows 95/NT version
2.0). This older version was really clunky and you could only
print one page of the site at a time. This is a real problem for
us because of the time involved.
However, Web Whacker 2000 is out and the updated version may be
less clunky. And apparently, it has a new feature which allows
you to print an entire site with the touch of a button, so to
speak. Their internet address is
http://www.bluesquirrel.com/products/whacker/whacker.html. They
have free downloads as well. I haven't tried the updated version
although it's on my list of things to do.
I also tried a product called Web Buddy, but when I went to look
up the URL, I found that the product has been discontinued. Nuff'
said. (It didn't have a print function anyway, so it's useless to
us.)
I hope some other people can add to this thread.
