Re: Dutch Elm Disease



I read that "Dutch" was applied (and stuck) because the disease appeared on
record in the Netherlands and early research on the disease was done by
Dutch scientists. (ca.1919) It was assumed-for a brief period- to be of
Dutch origin.
The blight devastated the American elm-I don't believe think there is a type
of elm known as Dutch. Thank you, JT
