Greetings All I would like to know the ruling on the use of publicity stills from a movie ( in particular "Carnegie Hall" released in 1947) for which both the photographer and actors where under contract to a studio that no longer exists. Couldnt a publicity stills from this movie, given to us by one of the actors who performed in it, be considered artifacts "from the collection of"? Thanks for your help.... Matsura Image Collection: http://www.wsulibs.wsu.edu/holland/masc/xmatsura.html This online image database includes over 1,200 photographs taken by Matsura between 1907 and 1913. As the only photographer in the newly incorporated city of Okanogan, Washington, Matsura was present to record the development of the city and the surrounding area including the construction of the Conconully Dam. He had a penchant for clowning around; numerous studio portraits show Matsura with others dressed in strange hats and costumes. In one series of photographs, Judge William Compton Brown's dog, Mickey, wears a hat and poses with a pipe in his mouth. Visitors to the site may select from a series of predefined searches, click on the image icons, or enter terms in a general search box. The database utilizes CONTENT software developed at the University of Washington. The site was made possible by a grant from the Washington State Library.
