Memoir manuscript search
I am searching for the manuscript of Micah Taul's (1785-1850) memoirs, which
he wrote in 1848. It is my desire to edit and publish them. They are a great
read. Taul wrote the memoirs in Talladega, AL. In 1928, his granddaughter,
Mrs. Jessie Roach of Brewton, AL, loaned the manuscript to the Kentucky
Historical Society, which published them in three issues of its scholarly
journal, THE REGISTER. The society returned the manuscript to Mrs. Roach.
Taul became the first clerk of the courts in Wayne County, KY and was
licensed to practice law at age 16. He served in two campaigns of the War of
1812 and one term in the US House of Representatives. He was a close
acquaintance of Henry Clay.
I am wondering that by chance the manuscript might have been deposited in an
archive or collection somewhere in the south. I would like to have a copy of
the manuscript to work from.
Any ideas?!
