Re: Filemaker and Access
I use Access 97 here at work, and like it a lot more than
Filemaker Pro. I pretty much taught myself to use it, with
a little help from the "Dummies" book and a lot of help from
the many charts in a very large book, "Special Edition Using
Access 97", by Roger Jennings. It is 1,275 pages long. It was
a BIG help to me! It should be available in your local library.
Amazon.com also has it.
One resource I love to use is a web site that offers FREE
help "24/7" (!!) for any problems a person might have with a computer -
software of all kinds and hardware. It is called "Experts Exchange".
http://www.experts-exchange.com
It works by a point system: when you register, you get 200 points,
and every time you ask a question, points are deducted, more
points for harder questions, fewer points for easier questions.
You also get 200 points a month for merely staying registered.
Experts earn points for answering questions. And their experts
are REAL experts. Give it a try, and tell the list what you think!
Oh - please do not forget to be quite specific about what kind
of computer you have, and what software you have. "EE" has been
a GREAT help to me, and their experts have been UNfailingly
patient with my relatively small store of knowledge (small compared
to a REAL expert!) and kind to me - they NEVER have criticized ANY
question I have asked. Oh - and I have NEVER been spammed
on account of using "EE".
Please give "EE a try, folks, and please post what you think of
"EE" to the entire list.
