Archival Associations: Identify Yourselves, Please
Title: Archival Associations: Identify Yourselves, Please
Good morning,
The Council of State Historical Records Coordinators (COSHRC) is compiling a list of education chairs / coordinators for all national, regional, state and local archival associations, as well as updating its list of organizations, presidents, and contact information.
COSHRC is leading a collaborative project to assess the need for a Web-based information clearinghouse for archivists and others who care for historical records. It is specifically designed to examine how the Web can be used to support and enhance archival continuing education.
For this project, COSHRC continues its partnership with American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) which is providing financial and management support as well as participating actively on the working group. This needs assessment is a direct outgrowth of the 2001 conference National Forum on Archival Continuing Education (NFACE) which was organized by COSHRC in cooperation with AASLH. The National Historical Publications and Records Commission provided grants to support both NFACE and the current project.
We intend to use the list to keep organizations apprised of our discussions and to solicit comments. The Web-based information clearinghouse that emerges should be useful to all of us. So that we can maintain a current list of contacts, please e-mail me with the following information:
- Name of association / organization and Web address
- Association management (if applicable)
- President’s name, place of employment address, telephone number, e-mail
- Newsletter editor, place of employment, telephone number, e-mail
- Education chair / coordinator, place of employment, telephone number, e-mail
Please send this information to glessner@coshrc.org, as well as any questions or comments you might have.
For additional information on the projects noted above, go to www.coshrc.org.
Thank you for your assistance!
