Northeast Document Conservation Center, in cooperation with the
National Park Service, is seeking a senior preservation technician
to inventory, treat, and house a large and complex collection of
architectural drawings, plans, and related materials as well as
perform administrative and personnel functions. This is a one-year
full time position, subject to renewal. The senior technician will
be an employee of the Northeast Document Conservation Center working
through a cooperative agreement with the Olmsted National Historic
Site. The position is located at the Olmsted Archives Conservation
Lab in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The duties of the Senior Preservation Technician includes the
following:

    *   supervises the NEDCC preservation technicians at the Olmsted
        National Historic Site, including supervision and management
        of personnel matters

    *   collaborates with the NPS Supervisory Archivist in the day
        to day management of the preservation laboratories

    *   assists with producing an inventory of the architectural
        plans

    *   carries out basic paper conservation treatments on the above
        mentioned archival materials.  The goal of this work is to
        preserve the materials and to facilitate collections
        management and research use.  All conservation work is done
        according to the accepted standards of practice in the
        archives and conservation fields.

    *   engages in rehousing and storing the collection and in
        producing associated documentation.

This is a full time position (M-F, 8 am-4:30 pm), with a starting
salary in the mid-$30s with full benefits including health
insurance.   Preference will be given to applicants with supervisory
experience and experience in treatment and handling of archival
