Now as I remember it, there was a hue and cry. In fact, there was a
specific federal law passed to protect video store check-outs (while there
is no such law to protect libraries). Later, it was acknowledged that the
original story (which I believe ran in Washington's City Paper about Judge
Bork) was a spoof.

But then, this is like oral history, it is what I remember as I didn't go
search for the facts. But since others remembered different, I thought I'd
throw this into the mix.
