George Lucas is one greedy fuck.
When asked why he was releasing the Star Wars trilogy on DVD now, as opposed to after Ep. 6 as originally planned, George Lucas said:
“Just because the market has shifted so dramatically. A lot of people are getting very worried about piracy. That has really eaten dramatically into the sales. It really just came down to, there may not be a market when I wanted to bring it out, which was like, three years from now. So rather than just sit by and watch the whole thing fall apart, better to bring it out early and get it over with.”

C’mon, we all took Econ 10. He’s inflating the price of his movies by creating an artificial void for his product. I get that he owns this shit, but for someone so moralistic that he had to edit his films as not to Harm the Children ™, it doesn’t seem so moral and highbrow to stiff the very kiddies and parents who have been pleading for DVD versions of their very favorite movies since DVD was invented. What a fucktard. What a raging, retarded, ego-centric fucktard.
It’s almost as bad as New Line Cinema jiggling the scheduled releases of the LOTR trilogy so serious fans have to buy both editions to get all the bits. Just fucking make ONE DVD ok? It’s not like you can’t fit lots of stuff on there.
And while I’m bitching about self-centered people, money-grubbing antics, and DVDs: Shirley Manson and Garbage have also crossed the line. They’re holding up release of the La Femme Nikita second season DVD. Why? Because a song they allowed to be used in an episode of the series (before they rose to their current level of fabulousness, of course) wasn’t properly licensed for further distribution.
Why? Because at that time, there wasn’t a market for DVD releases of shows. LFN used tons of popular music on the show (shit like Depeche Mode and Prodigy and Enigma), and I haven’t heard any other bands bitching about it. I mean, they used HUGE bands like Coldplay and NIN and Orbital. And if Trent Reznor isn’t complaining, Shirley Manson should shut the fuck up.
