Halloween, part 6

The final day of the final long weekend. Much madness, but with direction.

B stayed over, and we all ran errands this morning before re-grouping at the house around 2 p.m.. I got extension cords and more purple lights. This is the third trip out for purple lights. It’s very purple around here. I’m sure that shocks noone.

B and I stayed in the yard all day, K in the kitchen. R showed up in the afternoon to give a highly-useful pair of hands. There was a lot of smoking — of greeting, accomplishment, failure, pondering. Lots of pondering. But lots more working.

What got done:

  • lighting up the back fence — totally successful. took many strings of lights, but worth the effort
  • finished up entrance — routing people away from the newly-shorn stumps
  • sank new shephard’s crook to hang the kettle (though I’m likely to move it to give it more prominence)
  • another few strings of C9s and minis, to fill in various places
  • 3 body forms dressed, kind of — still a bit lumpy. I didn’t have enough stuffing to really build them up properly, but the saran wrap idea is useful. Duct tape is awesome. One to go, and some refinement on them all.
  • skully bones in the ground
  • brackets secured with the juiced-up cordless screwdriver
  • ghostie with the leastie on the back chimney wall
  • removed the tree and dug out around the back gate, so that it opens fully
  • cut the funky satin cloth to cover tarot table AND make two swags for the windows. K will fill in with ratty cheesecloth curtins. That will fucking rock.
  • spinach dip, one vat
  • still more sausage balls (because we managed to eat an entire batch “taste-testing”)
  • bathroom cleaning (hey, clean toilets are important!)

Exhausted, but pleased. So far. Now? Four days of work, then straight on till Halloween.
