A new view, too.

Since the original design of this space was supposed to be temporary (yet lasted a year) I think it’s time to put something together that’s a little more mine. It’s still code that originated with the standard WP templates, but at least now the stock photography is original. The layout’s been tweaked, and I like it to stay consistant.

The top graphic is the pier that you can see from my great-aunt’s screen porch, looking over the Pamlico River. I took it on the Fourth of July about 2 years ago, at sunset with the print camera, a Nikon FM-1. The photo was (obviously) manipulated to a super-saturated purple. Not to mention–holy cow–the pink. A pink and purple blog? Stranger things have happened. Or have they?

The background is a tile I made in a random pattern, colored and textured to try and match the dappled water in the photograph. Nothing fancy. A little watery, a little Haunted-Mansion-y. A little too active, but I must like busy. Cause, y’know, the lime green was a little… exciting.

Also included in this minor overhaul: a few adjustments to correct things I knew were problems. Like the font size on the comments entry form, and the footer overrunning the text on single-entry pages. On the back end (as I mentioned just one post earlier), I upgraded to WP2 and so far, so good. Probably because this time I actually made the backups like I was supposed to.

Haven’t seen too terribly much in the way of thrilling new features, except for the WYSIWYG HTML editor. Which I turned off immediately because I, of course, am a snot-nosed geek and believe my hand-coded HTML superior to all comers. There are a few more import tools, which should make the last few stragglers happy, and a new design to the back end GUI. It’s not bad.

I’ll probably be fiddling with it off and on for the next few days, so if you have something to say about it, speak now or… later, I guess.

update: I have noticed that my del.icio.us linkroll has vanished. It doesn’t look like a function of the style change, but the upgrade. Drat!

update2: Still no love on the del.icio.us front. It’s some JavaScript shit, so I’ll either figure it out or find another way to do it.
