Dear weather: You suck.

To whom it may concern in regards to weather and climate:

This is WINTER. Not spring, not summer, not fall. I am fully aware that this is the south, and frozen precipitation is less likely here. But less likely does not mean nonexistant. And this winter: Nada. Yeah, sure, three snowflakes that could have been ash from neighboring chimneys? Don’t think so.

And it merely adds insult to injury to be mere degrees above freezing… and raining steadily. Cold, wet, nasty. The storm system passed right over us and dumped 2 feet of snow in Central Park. New York gets snow! They don’t need all that! Stingy northern cities!

We’ll totally trade you some humidity and cooling summer rainshowers?

On TV tonight:

You KNOW if I have any spare slack time on the weekends, I’m kicked back in the comfy chair with some string and two sticks. What do we do while knitting and chatting? Watch terrible movies or even worse television. Some of the things that played in the past couple days:

Meet the Parents
Mildly amusing. I mostly wanted to see it so I could get all the jokes in the second movie of the series, which adds Eugene Levy to the cast. But this was a decently amusing comedy. Ben Stiller isn’t my favorite comic, but if he leads to Levy, it’ll all be good.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose
The Exorcist meets Law and Order. Plus some Bones thrown in. For the badness.

Wild child: The story of feral children
What happens when children are abandoned by their parents and raised by dogs or other animals, or in abject isolation. Let’s just say–it’s not pretty.

It’s not easy to be a wolf boy
Documentary about a Mexican family of incredibly hirsute men and women, some of whom are part of a circus sideshow, and others who try to have normal lives.

Oh my.

UPDATE: After the wolf boy special (which I finished watching in bed), there was the equally horrifying “The man whose arms exploded.” This was about a body builder so intent on having enormous guns that he injected steriods until his biceps literally popped. Gross.

The cooling rainshowers are a nice offer, but what I really need now is electricity. Our house has had none since Saturday night. Hook us up with the power juice and you can have all the snow you want…

Hm, I would totally give you some power in trade for a foot or so of beautiful, snowball-grade snow. I’d even take sleet in trade. I’d even trade our own power supply! I’m that desperate!

But I do hope you and your loved ones are at least bundled up and keeping warm! More’s the pity that you’re allergic to cats–they make fantastic bed warmers when the power’s out…

My secret TV addiction: trashy shows about UFOs. I don’t believe that the aliens are among us, but I am fascinated by the faith of people who do. It is fascinating to watch them make statements of faith about such things, and I will readily admit that I find it fascinating in a heartless and clinical way.
