Short list.
It is late, but before I forget to mention a few key things, here’s the list:
- I’m getting really annoyed with all the spam. Viagra ads is one thing, casino ads another, but rape pron? And the lame-ass compliments? God. At least be interesting like Robust’s crazy conspiracy theorists.
- ArG is now I think actually missing her pal TiVo. Though she slept for practically the entire first day the calico was gone, she’s been an enormous brat since. Though she gets all the lovins plus some, she’s still absolutely stuck to me whenever I’m in the house. Right this second, in fact, she is sprawled on her back across my forearms, her little pointy head bouncing with every keystroke. She is all dead-weight, with her paws facing different directions. What a dork.
- Brief lake visit this past weekend–up for the afternoon to wash the boat, clear the trail, and give a hand with the household chores. It was a gorgeous day and loads of fun. It was an easy thing we could do to help out with something we’ve gotten so much enjoyment out of.
- Househunting progress? So far, so good. I think. Exciting.
Ok, now, those of you who don’t want tonight’s 24 plot spoiled? Skip the rest.
24 SPOILER
I knew that Fake President Jowl-face was bad news. From the beginning! It’s not Vice President Leland! (Yes, Twin Peaks fans, that Leland. Is the Vice President.) But as I was saying: Fake President Jowl-face should totally get his ass kicked by Jack. And, ok, maybe I hate Audrey a little less now that she too is all sneaky and Sydney Bristow. She’s not near as much of a wuss as Spawn, I guess. Oh, and Chloe? Did I not say that EVERYbody loves her? Huh?

Wait a second - Leland is the Veep? Does he get a lot of face-time?
It’s also worth noting that Sarah Palmer, Laura’s mom, is the main character’s mother in the polygamy show, Big Love.
Also, I had a fabulous time going up on Saturday to help out. I really, really appreciated the opportunity to do something in return, and I had a lot of fun doing so!

Yes and yes. He is Veep and he gets lots of face time (probably because he is a slimy li’l weasel).
How is that Big Love show? You need to post about it, as there is only so much bad television one person can watch.
And I had a great time on Saturday, too. It was so lovely just to hang out, and the hard work was totally worth it–felt like we were really DOING something, y’know? :) Thank you so much for sharing that experience! We will have to do it again.

I’ve watched about ten minutes of it, all told, and found it too creepy to be enjoyable. It doesn’t appeal to me on any level, personally. However, The Boyf is watching it, so you should pester him to post about it. I would enjoy reading what he writes about it even if I don’t enjoy the show. :)

Also, goddamn it, I am going to have to start taping 24. Damn.

About starting 24:
If you’re just want to see Leland, then I guess you could just pick up now. Though I can’t promise Leland will stay in the cast–characters on this show tend to die. Or kind of die. And then die. It’s hard to explain.
Maybe save it on your TiVo and I’ll come watch it with you, with frequent pauses for expository smoke breaks? There is a LOT of 24 canon, but luckily each season being 24 hours, there is a bit less than I guess there could be.
Also, some of the earlier seasons are largely irrelevant, except as background. You could TVWP them (if you had lots of time) or I could give you a basic run-down.
Though I will say: the show is GREAT. It is frustrating and intoxicating and does totally make you want to jump out of your skin with impatience. Last season was kind of ‘enh,’ and I was really more ambivilant about the start of this season. But the show seems to have gotten back on track–in part because of some serious guest stars (Julian Sands and Sean Astin to name just two) and in part because they shocked the shit out of the audience in episode 1 and haven’t bothered to stop yet.
So, pretty much, if you’re only going to watch one season? This is a good one.
And also, Richard? TOTALLY blog about this Big Love show. Pretty please!

Donald:
I’m looking in sort of in a southwesterly swath around town. I’m trying to stay out of the higher tax brackets if possible. Wish me luck!!
