Addition to the family.
I am weak. I am a weak, weak person. The cuteness… it did win me over.
I had to run to the pet store, to pick up food and litter for Miss Priss, and a new (smaller) litterbox to take up the Lake House. (Her current box is too large to schlep and I’m pretty sure it might not fit where it usually goes.) I meant to do this yesterday, but never got around to it due to a deep need to paint something. (Incidentally, the first room of the guest bath is now painted.)
Thus my trip to SuperPetSuperStore™ got postponed to Saturday. A day I usually try to avoid. Because of the cuteness.
On Saturday, the SuperPetSuperStore hosts local SPCA and animal rescue groups, so the place is covered with liquid-eyed fur-covered darlings. And some of them? You can take home to be your very own.
This, right now (when I know a second cat is needed and inevitable?) Is very dangerous territory.
Exhibit A. The cuteness.
I walked in the door and, oooh, there were the cages. The big rack full of sad-faced little…. oh, the one on top. There’s a little… Russian blue. Staring right back at me, tiny jaws poised to deliver the crushing blow to a… sparkley poofy purple feather. Hee!
My first thought was “ah, crap.” Then I walked over to get a better look… and everything just sort of fell into place. The fees are reasonable, he’s already vaccinated and has an appointment to be neutered next week, he’s living in a home and not a cage, and his foster mom was willing to keep him until I got back–in fact next weekend would be the very earliest she’d even consider placing him. And, even more important–she and her hubby were lovely and he is healthy and friendly. When I picked him up he flopped around the way that kitten does and tuned up a purr I could feel in my fingers.
With the long ears and funny noises of the blues, he’s probably at least a bit Russian. A tad of tabby striping. He looks much like his “cousins” Didi and Gogo. In other words, one of the prettiest cats I’ve ever seen.
And he sleeps with his tongue sticking out. I need a better camera than my phone, or perhaps this cuteness is only available in real time. In any case, possibly sometime soon it may be available for private viewing, at the abode.
Now, he just needs a name. Any suggestions? It should probably end, somehow, with “Grey” to continue the ridiculous way that I’ve named things. ‘Jean’ and ‘Dorian’ have both already been suggested, with the first being rejected ’cause Jean Grey is a girl and he is a boy cat. Dorian, however, is worth continuing. Especially because it shortens to “Door,” who is a character in Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere… and that satisfies my insatiable desire for double entendre.
I probably should avoid something impossible to holler in anger (like AllCats), else he’ll just get called something else. Though I really think that all cats (and AllCats) are known by their real name–”augh–god-damn-you-CAT.”

O. M. G.
Teh cuteness is overwhelming.
He looks just like my boys, right down to the mauve footpads - a distinct marker of Russian Blue in his background.
Wow. Yow. I need to go snuggle Did and/or Gogo, who are (I need not mention) unspeakably glad to be home.

Hee. I’m glad the boys are happy and I hope they enjoyed their adventure! LOVED having kitten-time! AllCats keeps streching out in random places on the floor, just because she can. Left a msg with the lady fostering Dorien, hope to hear from her later…

Dorien? Dorian? Whatever.
