At vacation’s end.
Can’t complain, as I’ve had a lovely 11 days in a row without the need to attend to my email, work on a project, or concern myself with anything beyond household chores and general hobbies. Tomorrow, however, brings an end to the respite and return to the daily grind. It’s sure to be exciting, though I will miss the lazy afternoons… and the sleeping late.
There is, of course, news of the Lake. It fares well, and it mostly appears we have all become Cat People. There were a few steath Dog People, but at least so far we are not so much in the Child People area, but maybe eventually just a few of those might be okay.
So instead of wild drunken adventures, we mostly had pet adventures and some delightful tipsiness, amusing finds, and great food.
R. and R, aside from being entirely fun people to antique-store-it with, brought up the Boys. As has every cat in the history of cats in the lakehouse has done, they excitedly explored the second-floor balcony, and the ledge and railing that might could possibly give them access to the very Great Outdoors deer head and antler chandelier. No one has yet made the leap and survived, save TiVo. But it is her house, so she has first rights.
Speaking of TiVo: Most amusing moment of the week? When I watched L’s insanely creaky chiuahaha Pepper as he made his way into the grass and up to the retaining wall, bravely lifted his leg… and peed on TiVo. She had fallen asleep there in the sunshine, against a potted plant, and the positioning of the miniature dog prevented her from getting much out of the way until it was too late. And Pepper? Entirely oblivious.
And continuing in the cats department, Dorien comes home Friday night. First viewings at the candle event, or thereabouts. After that, call or email for reservations. Bribes accepted in the form of milk carton rings or Greenies.
Much to do. Much to do.

Pepper was just pretending to be oblivious. Peeing on kitties is part of the Chihuahua World Domination Plan. :)
