Another boring update.
Whew, I am tired–the end of another weekend came way too fast. And I didn’t even leave the house. Dorien is also exhausted; obviously being this cute takes lots and lots of effort.
Made another attempt at clearing the yard. And, to think, I was glad because there were no pine trees here.
Last time I tried this, it was nice and neat for approximately 6 hours–the amount of time between when I turned off the leaf blower and we got a couple of huge thunderstorms with a ton of wind and rain. You couldn’t tell I’d slaved. It was just a big blanket of leaves.
This time, at least I’ll have photographic proof. I made it around the front and side yard on Saturday, and got up early on Sunday to finish the back and other side just before it began to rain. I had put away the blower and rake and begun to fiddle with the lights today when an icy cold sprinkling began.
Though I by no means have finished the lightjob, I managed to add a few more strings Saturday night after dark. There’s 3 strings above the garage now: one leftover chunk of garland, flanked by two ribbon nets. And the large bulbs-on-sticks got moved from around back and are now lining the front walkway.
The wiring for the side yard has been laid, and I’d just started to move lights up when I got caught by the raindrops. Hopefully I’ll get a clear day (with leaves that stay in their places) next week to finish up outside.
The storms chasing me indoors meant that I had a watched stove to cook on, so I made a couple of pots of soup. Had the broccoli-cheese for dinner. Yum. After that, I whipped out the dough for the gingersnaps. That goes straight into the freezer. I should bake something else, but I have an article to write, the dishwasher is full, and I already cleaned up the kitchen once.

Blah. Leaves. I blow them off my walk and my deck. That’s it. I don’t know who came up with the idea that one had to clear them from their lawn; he or she should be shot. ;) I never do. Ever.
Have a nice week. Mine’s wonderful already! :)

Does your grass die? My mom said I had to rake the leaves because otherwise the grass underneath would die. Was she lying to me all along? The horror!
Also–MISS YOU! But glad you are having fun. Say hi to all the peeps I know. :)
