24: season 6, hour 6

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Coarse commentary on this season’s 24. Again, not for the not completely-caught-up.

Yay, McBeal. I hope he and Karen get to whip out their sharp tongues more often.
OMG, I think that was a Lowe brother. Of the less-famous variety. Chad! Glad to see you’re getting work after Hilary.
Oh, c’mon Romano. Don’t be such […]

Cinderella’s castle is no more.

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

After an overly-long hiatus, my gaming group reassembled this evening for a bit of play in our current adventure. (Note: players in the game will want to avoid the “cast” and “planned sessions” items, as they contain details that will spoil the future storyline.)
This game’s concept took shape last winter, after returning from my […]

24: season 6, hour 5

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Same as the others–if you’re avoiding 24, this isn’t the place to be.

Bye-bye Valencia. 12,000 dead. Though, really, a bomb has exploded on 24 soil before. Ok, so it was in the desert. Whatever. But they’re all acting like it’s the first time.
President Palmer’s heading to the bunker. That’s a really sweet bunker they […]

Sonnet.

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

1 First we name Alta, bourne up by the sea
2 islands splayed wide, hard shores clouded over
3 fat river tumbles between stone and tree,
4 meadow in sunlight, burst full with clover
5 Smooth-sail the line of deep marble stone
6 steep and impassable terror-filled nook
7 The island its center, welcoming home
8 travellers who sing a safe passage […]

Books.

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

“So, Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world, like ships onto the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and confidant message: you are not alone.” — Matilda

Dorien’s first snow.

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Awwwwww…. Dorien got his first taste of snow this morning. I let him out on the back deck and he carefully sniffed at the white drifts, then padded across. Moments later, the cold registered on his paws and he turned, fleeing for the warmth of the house.

The Figurehead (post 2)

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Same song, entirely different era. Robert here is probably younger than we are now, and so so sad. Simply so charming, it breaks your heart.

Also, I want to know how exactly I missed this web comic.

24: season 6, hours 3 and 4

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Again, if you ever plan on watching 24 and not knowing what happens, go away.

hour 3:
Chloe, he doesn’t have a lot of time. He never has a lot of time. Get on with it.
I really do like this Dr. Bashir. But I still feel he is likely to be incredibly short-lived. As […]

The Figurehead

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Ah, an old friend. So achingly beautiful, for what it is, and where it fits in my life with the Cure. Robert Smith says it is about a figurine from a set they used for a video shoot. It is also about what I remember it for–a time, a place, certain people, absolutes of experience. […]

New season (of 24). [duh, SPOILER]

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

I haven’t watched a 24 season premiere by myself, like, ever. So this year there was nobody around to freak out with during commercials. So, internets, I shall freak out with you instead!
Obviously, if you dont’ want to know what happens, then you probably shouldn’t read this.

the first hour:
Carlo Rota! Woot! Mick Schtoppel […]
