Joel Grey, CFO and General Manager, Clearwater Staffing Agency.

Human by birth, a child prodigy in mathematics who attended college at age 13. Matriculated by 16 and joined a mathematics think tank that performed actuarial calculations for government studies. Stunted socially, was a loner and general recluse. Was recruited by the church when he was 21 because of his incredible genius and fortunate inheritance. His parents, both intellectuals in their own right, had been murdered while serving in the Peace Corps, leaving him a substantial trust fund that matured when he became in all ways a legal adult.

Though his recruitment was rather fiscal in nature, his particular skills gained him much admiration once he was inside. His ability to untangle even the most complicated financial transactions quickly was a boon to the church and he was promoted accordingly. The rigorous and repetitive mental exercises required by the church were well-suited to his borderline Asberger's personality, and he learned various ways of skillfully manipulating people.

He has been in the Church for nearly 50 years--he is 70 years old. In this time, he has become an OT7, just barely shy of the highest levels. His curiousity is all that has kept him from rising further--in his dealings with the CSA (and with Michael Jones) he came into contact with other supernaturals, vampires especially, and the Mormon mages. He carefully studied their habits and their materials--whatever he could get his hands on--and managed to pick up a few tricks and powers of his own. These are all dark-magic-based, and he is in the sway of a particular demon.

One of the boons granted by this evil pal is the ability to shapeshift into three parsel-forms. The first is a regular garden variety snake--quick and small, but rather defenseless. The second is a medium-sized lizard, moderately armored and with a nasty bite. The third is a largely uncontrollable monstrous snake-creature, with large fangs and a serious attitude. The third form is only attainable through a loss of humanity, or rage near death, that sort of thing. Even when Joel is not in one of these forms, his appearance is slightly reptilian. His eyes are beady and black, his nostrils small and wide-set, and his tongue may dart our of his mouth, forked and pointy.

Joel also possesses powers of persuasion, relating to mathematics and general behavior. His gift is generally strongest in business situations--he can easily convince shareholders to accept a risky plan, sell a shady business deal with no problems, etc.
