I apologize for combining two responses in one post, but it takes up less
space this way, I hope. First, the participle in James 5:16 is of course
present tense, and so "being effective" or being put into action is a con-
tinuous process.
Second, in regard to the question about the e-text of GNT, it will unfortu-
nately take more than a font to see the Greek on screen. Because of the dif-
ferences between the beta code and currently available fonts, one has to
purchase a program to read the texts, and these programs are designed to
process the TLG proper rather than an off-publication of any one TLG text. I
can't really recommend the main Mac program for doing this (Pandora; I have
it but dislike it so much that I am writing my own), and I don't know if it
would function with the downloaded GNT text. The TLG beta code itself is not
all that difficult to follow, and many of us make do with reading the code
instead of converting it to Greek. To find a complete explanation of the
code, one can consult two sources: the UC Irvine gopher (find the TLG sub-
directory) and the Perseus web page (www.perseus.tufts.edu). Hope this helps.
