Position Profile
Professor in New Testament and Greek
Opening as of August 1, 1997

Position Description: Golden Gate Seminary seeks a full-time faculty
member qualified to teach New Testament and Greek in its masters-level
programs on its Mill Valley campus. Candidates should have degrees and
experience commiserate with appointment at the associate professor
level or higher. Responsibilities will also include supervision of Th.
M. and D. Min. candidates.

Position requirements: an appropriate earned doctoral degree from an
accredited institution; instructional experience equivalent to associate
professor rank or better; active churchmanship; experience in
educational technology and computers; Southern Baptist affiliation;
commitment to the intellectual, personal and ministerial development of
students; demonstrated ability to work with teams to achieve
institutional goals.

Publications; experience with cross cultural or multi-cultural contexts;
and significant professional ministry experience also preferred.

Compensation: competitive salary based on qualifications, home purchase
program available in addition to on-campus faculty housing, generous
annuity, professional development funds and a full-year full-salary
sabbatical program.

Institutional Profile: Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary is one
of six seminaries operated by the Southern Baptist Convention. In its
fifty-third year of operation, Golden Gate trains men and women for
professional ministry at multiple campuses. The Mill Valley campus is
the only residential campus with 117 acres overlooking San Francisco Bay
from Marin County. Nine million people live within commuting distance of
this campus. Approximately 440 students study at this campus with half
being in residence on site. The 200,000 plus main library collection as
well as the administrative team reside at this campus. GGBTS also
operates a Southern California Campus in Brea (about fifteen minutes
north of Disneyland); a Pacific Northwest Campus in Portland Oregon,
and an Arizona regional campus, on the grounds of Grand Canyon
University in Phoenix, Arizona. GGBTS also offers courses toward the M.
Div. degree in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has recently open a new
regional campus in Denver Colorado. Golden Gate is committed to
