There are probably several good ways to get some classical grammar on one's
own, bearing in mind that this is not an ideal approach, I think the idea
of getting Smyth and correlating it with NT grammar terminology would be one.
I've had no real problems simply treating Smyth as though it were applic-
able to the NT, and then using an intermediate or advanced NT grammar as a
source of comparison. Moule's NT idioms is pretty good, for example. I would
caution, though, that one should give serious consideration to views ex-
pressed in Smyth (and Goodwin & Gulick, which is also very good) that seem
contradictory to an NT source; i.e. don't assume that the NT source is auto-
matically correct, but evaluate the relevant NT passages from both view-
points.
