Decode No More
How does a person best move from decoding Greek to reading it? I find myself continually falling into decode mode whenever I encounter unfamiliar passages. I perform mental gymnastics translating Greek to English in my head. I also parse verbs instead of instantly recognizing them. I'm only a little...

Beginning Linguistics Texts
This may be a bit outside of B-Greek as it doesn't relate specifically to Greek, but I know that there are a number of people on the list with expertise in the area. I would like suggestions on some beginning linguistic books. Feel free to PM your responses as, again, this isn't really a question ab...

Re: Moulton, Howard, and Turner
Thank you, gentlemen. It sounds as though having the complete set isn't worth spending the extra money to acquire them.

Smyth vs. Goodwin & Gulick
I realize that both Smyth and Goodwin are Attic grammars, but can be helpful for Koine. I see Smyth referred to repeatedly on B-Greek. How does Goodwin compare? Let me pose it this way. If I buy Smyth, is there any reason to purchase Goodwin?

Re: The Learner's Conundrum
Jonathan has a very good point about "going mainstream". I spent my first ten years as a professional working in I.T. I was an early adopter of all things technical. Beta didn't matter to me. I'd play around with alpha releases. But my users would have been completely frustrated by the exp...

Re: The Learner's Conundrum
Is the community desiring a more communicative approach truly so small? Are we B-Greekers really that far out of the mainstream? Outside of Randall Buth, Christophe Rico, and a few others, are there any serious scholars working on developing fluency curricula? I have to wonder if the reason we don't...

Living Language Video Lectures on the Web
How can we get there? What funding models make sense? And how do we get more buy-in for a communicative approach for a so-called dead language? ** Moderator note: Split from http://www.ibiblio.org/bgreek/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1095&p=5312#p5312 I didn't want this topic to detract from di...

Re: 8-WEEK INTENSIVE GREEK AND LATIN SUMMER SCHOOL, UNIVERSI
I'm assuming that these intensives are more akin to traditional classes than to immersion courses of Buth or Rico. Is that indeed the case?
