Re: Best GNT for Tablet / Kindle / IPad
I use Olive Tree on my Nook Color. There are extra add-ons available for a charge, but you can get the SBL GNT and apparatus for free. I have no complaints.

Re: 2 Cor. 5:20
It would seem - correct me if I've skipped one - that this supplied "you " of verse 20 is the only exclusive "we" in a chapter of inclusive "we"'s. If you mean inclusive of the addressees, I do not believe this is correct. Vv. 11-13 make clear that "we" inclu...

Re: New Testament Semitisms (Bible Translator Article)
Okay, I see now how I can do that. I assume this is being tied in to the previous thread on the necessity of having a Hebrew NT. I looked in the Delitzsch NT, and he translates every occurrence of ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν with וַיַּעַן וַיֹּאמֶר . This phrase is found in the Hebrew OT, but only 5x (0.02% of...

Jonathan, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the text on the right side of the page is not viewable. And the section you cite does not appear to be included in the link you provided.

Re: Dave Black on What Greek Teachers Won’t Tell You
The only bit I don't quite get is this: (You’ll need, for example, a Hebrew New Testament as well.) I don't see why anyone would need a Hebrew New Testament ... I've heard that statement more than once before, and have never understood the reasoning behind it. I have a Hebrew NT on my Bible softwar...

Re: Smyth "A Greek Grammar"
For an inexpensive version, you might consider printing the 1920 version pdf file. I printed an enlarged copy (about 2x) and bound it. I keep the Index separate in a comb binding. It works well for me and only cost me about $20. Directions for binding can be found many places, or I could describe h...

Re: λάθρᾳ in Matt 1:19
Not that I can tell, but it seems the meaning of "secretly," "by stealth," or "clandestinely" would much better modify an action than the thoughts of one's mind.Louis L Sorenson wrote:Is it possibly for λάθρα to mean 'quietly'?

Re: λάθρᾳ in Matt 1:19
For every effect there must be an adequate cause, and I fail to see how Joseph would believe that divorcing Mary would prevent αὐτὴν δειγματίσαι. This context would suggest that λάθρᾳ modify ἀπολῦσαι. As for the divorce being public, that is a good point. However, it could still be seen as λάθρᾳ rel...

Mark, I don't think that's correct. Calfskin is generally considered one of the best and most durable leathers with which one can bind a Bible.Mark Lightman wrote:The Triniterian Bible Society publishes a nice "calf skin" (read fake leather) edition of the Textus Receptus.
