Re: Ranking NT books by difficulty
Yes, I have found the general difficulty of 2Corinthians to be a Real Event. However, I read it again a few months ago and was surprised at how easily Chapter Seven went. Of course, the whole book was not that way, but there are [long?] stretches of 2Cor that just flew by. Such events are an encoura...

Re: Acts 2:22-23
Wes Wood wrote: I think the repetition Ἰησοῦν... τοῦτον makes it clear that there is grammatical emphasis, Thanks for your response, Wes. I had noticed the τοῦτον and figured that it referenced back to Ἰησοῦν. What initially struck me was the 'distance' between the direct object and the verb, but th...

Acts 2:22-23
22 Ἄνδρες Ἰσραηλῖται, ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τούτους. Re: John 7:49
J. Robie, thanks. I read the passage from Jannaris and noticed this phrase, "Nevertheless, it is not rigidly adhered to even by A[ttic?] writers. etc." This points out what probably happened in my thinking. I falsely imagined that language had a mathematical precision to it!! Hopefully, I ...

Re: John 7:49
My thanks to you, J. Robie. I remember similar guidelines regarding plural neuter subjects and singular verbs [or is it the other way around? I will have to check on that.] Regards.

John 7:49
Why would the predicate adjective ἐπάρατοί be plural and the subject ὁ ὄχλος be singular?
ἀλλὰ ὁ ὄχλος οὗτος ὁ μὴ γινώσκων τὸν νόμον ἐπάρατοί εἰσιν.
ἀλλὰ ὁ ὄχλος οὗτος ὁ μὴ γινώσκων τὸν νόμον ἐπάρατοί εἰσιν.

῾Αμαρτωλος in Luke 7:37
In working on GNT vocabulary, I came across the word κομίζω. I had difficulty learning it and in such cases I will look up the usage of such a word in the GNT in hopes that the meaning will somehow stick. While reading Luke 7:37 [where I see κομίσασα] I noticed that γυνὴ ἥτις was described as an ἁμα...

Introduction
Ron Hoover. Getting ready to retire in a few months and plan on brushing up on my Koine. I received a minor in Greek back in the 70s and have still retained <some> fluency. I plan on going back through my first year grammar [A Beginning Greek Book by John Merle Rife 5th ed. 1964] and doing some non-...
