Re: Psalm 118:50,56

118:50 αὕτη με παρεκάλεσεν ἐν τῇ ταπεινώσει μου ὅτι τὸ λόγιόν σου ἔζησέν με 118:56 αὕτη ἐγενήθη μοι ὅτι τὰ δικαιώματά σου ἐξεζήτησα What's the antecent of the demonstrative pronoun in these two verses? Or is it feminine because of some underlying word in the Hebrew? Yes, it's the feminine near demo...

Re: Origen Fragment

Hello, I have a question about the exact translation of a passage of one of Origen’s fragments on the gospel of Matthew. The passage is a little difficult, so even though I have a good idea of what he’s saying, I just want to make sure my translation is correct. Here is the passage: Δεῖ τοίνυν μὴ μ...

Yes, the abbreviation list in Volume 2, Page xlix indicates GenR stands for Bere’šit Rabbah. You can access it at https://www.sefaria.org/Bereshit_Rabbah?tab=contents

Re: Titus 2:3 "καλοδιδασκάλους"

If you are inclined to take καλοδιδασκάλους as masculine because of its second-declension ending, why not treat διαβόλους the same way? Rather, James has the correct answer. Enter διδάσκαλος into the Fléchir un lemme field at https://outils.biblissima.fr/fr/eulexis-web/ or διδασκάλους into the Lemma...

Re: Common Hebraisms in LXX Greek?

Following up on my previous question which Jason answered, I was wondering if someone has put together a list of common Hebraisms in the LXX that can help me in my reading of the LXX. Perhaps it's too detailed, but it sounds like you would appreciate Conybeare & Stock's Grammar of Septuagint Gr...

Re: ὁ Αμορις in Gen 14:13

Maybe someone with admission to the Göttingen Sept. could check that. Here's apparatus 1 for Genesis 14:13: 13 παραγεναμενος n 343 392 | τῶν ἀνασωθέντων / τις A D 814 911 15-72´-135´ 77 f−53 343 t y−346´ 424 z 55 59 = Sixt] τις (τι* vid) ανασ. 75; om τις Cyr I 353; tr Chr VII 326 Genn 1645 Arm rell...

Re: ὁ Αμορις in Gen 14:13

It’s not necessary that Chryststom himself changed to ομορος, possibly he had a manuscript with that reading: https://archive.org/details/oldtestamentingr01broouoft/page/34/mode/1up?view=theater Thanks for the reference. Am I reading the apparatus right, that the printed editions of Chrysostom &quo...

Re: ὁ Αμορις in Gen 14:13

FWIW, John Chrysostom reads the genitive case here, in Homilies on Genesis 35.12.
