Re: What is purpose and meaning of τῇ in Gal 2:20?
It absolutely makes sense. Thanks for the detailed presentation. Not arguing that it can't be read that way. Like I said, the modern English translations including even the NKJV read it like that. But my question is, is it possible to read it the way that the KJV has it? "nevertheless I live; y...

Re: What is purpose and meaning of τῇ in Gal 2:20?
My background is in the 90s, I took college Greek classes, a year I believe. In other words, I know just enough to be dangerous. :) 1. {I} live 2. {I} no longer live 3. I no longer live Let me remove the particle δέ and give you some phrases to consider. What does each of these mean? 1. ζῶ 2. ζῶ οὐκ...

Re: What is purpose and meaning of τῇ in Gal 2:20?
Thanks. I just used that link you gave me, to paste the Greek into the post immediately above this one. Also, how do you get a Greek font in your posts? I tried pasting text that had a Greek font in MS Word, and it came out gibberish. Copy from a web page, e.g. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?...

Re: What is purpose and meaning of τῇ in Gal 2:20?
I'll try. My question is if we can separate the four Greek words into two short phrases--first ζῶ δὲ, and then οὐκέτι ἐγώ. Taking ζῶ δὲ as its own phrase would give us, "nevertheless I live;" and taking οὐκέτι ἐγώ as a separate phrase would give us "no longer [do] I." Or is this ...

Re: What is purpose and meaning of τῇ in Gal 2:20?
Thanks, both of those explanations were helpful. I do have one more question, about the initial words of this verse— zo de ouketi ego . The KJV treats this as two separate phrases (“Nevertheless I live, yet not I…”) whereas even the NKJV follows modern translations as interpreting it as one phrase (...

Re: What is purpose and meaning of te in Gal 2:20?
Would it read, "by the faith that is in the Son of God..."?--which would make it a pronoun, and not an article?

What is purpose and meaning of τῇ in Gal 2:20?
The text, from what I have seen, is the same in modern critical versions, as well as the Textus Receptus. Gal2.20.png Now I can see the translation of every Greek word, except "τῇ" that is right after ἐν πίστει ζῶ , and right before τοῦ θεοῦ . I see that it is a dative singular feminine ar...

Teaching children ancient Greek
I would like to teach an 8-year-old child of mine, classical Greek. I still have my textbooks when I learned it in college, but they are too advanced at this point. I have seen products marketed for teaching Greek to children, but they seem to cost an arm and a leg. Has anyone here done this on thei...

Re: υδροβαϕη ενωσιν
Sorry, my Greek isn't that good--that's why I come here. :D But I'm pretty sure I'll be able to remember that word from now on. And I did discover another Greek word that is in the full edition of the L&S, but not the little Liddell. I always thought that they put all of the Greek words that wer...
