Mark 2:2 -- Function of the article

Hi, I have a question about the usage of the accusative plural neuter article τὰ in Mark 2:2. καὶ συνήχθησαν πολλοὶ ὥστε μηκέτι χωρεῖν μηδὲ τὰ πρὸς τὴν θύραν, καὶ ἐλάλει αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον. I am trying to understand how the article is functioning in this verse. The only categories I can find in Wallac...

Question about John 11:43

I have a question about John 11:43 which reads: καὶ ταῦτα εἰπὼν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ἐκραύγασεν, Λάζαρε, δεῦρο ἔξω. Most translations render it something like this: When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth." (NASB) Translators have the phrase φωνῇ μεγάλῃ modifying ἐ...

Re: Ideal review intervals for memorization?

I use Bill Mounce’s FlashWorks program for reviewing vocabulary. But, in my opinion, you really need some kind of a review schedule to make it work. Here’s a review schedule that I use with FlashWorks: http://cid-8916fcbd91d7e70e.office.live.com/self.aspx/Greek/Extra%20Stuff/Flash%20Works%20Review%2...

Re: Ideal review intervals for memorization?

Nigel, I teach at a language school for missionaries. Our folks memorize practical expressions and dialogues/monologues. One review schedule that was popular was a similar to (a). If you felt like you didn’t know something, you could always bump it back in the sequence so that you could review it mo...

BTW, I posted all of my PowerPoint presentations online for my students. They are at: http://cid-8916fcbd91d7e70e.office.live.com/browse.aspx/Greek/BBG%20PPT You will either need PowerPoint or a PowerPoint viewer. You will also need Mounce’s Greek font. You can get it here: http://www.teknia.com/fre...

Re: Bob Nyberg

I am curious what other things you have actually done other than TPR to incorporate comprehension into the Mounce. Jeff I also made some translation exercises that corresponded with the TPR for each chapter. In the earlier chapters they were pretty simple, but got more complex. For example, here’s ...

Re: Bob Nyberg

Could you give some examples of how you supplemented Mounce's BBG with more whole-language comprehension stuff? You could always pick out the Greek students at Bible college. Everywhere we went, we carried our vocab words on a little ring to memorize/review them. In the line at the dining hall all ...

Re: Bob Nyberg

Hi Bob, have you seen Randall Buth's materials for doing just that: http://www.biblicallanguagecenter.com/ ? They do a great job integrating modern language learning methodology. Yes, I have. New Tribes Bible Institute uses Randall Buth's materials. Some of the students that come from there through...

I took Greek at Prairie Bible College in 1975. In our first year of Greek we used New Testament Greek for Beginners by Machen. In second year Greek we used A Manual Grammar of the Greek New Testament by Dana and Mantey. I can attest to the veracity of the old adage “use it or lose it!” After graduat...
