Re: Funk - A Beginning-Intermediate Grammar of Hellenistic G

I am curious as to how people feel this compares to the Mounce/Wallace combo. I am always looking for supplemental material in addition to my class texts and I am wondering if this is worth working through on my own if I am going to be doing the aforementioned combo in seminary.

New edition of Athenaze.

A third edition of Athenaze is coming out November 14th, you can check it out on Amazon. Does anyone know much about it? I am currently in a traditional seminary intro Greek course and I have been considering working through an Attic book over the summer before moving to the intermediate course, wit...

Re: Institute of Biblical Greek and Biblical Language Center

Thanks for the input all! I have started working through Dr. Rollinson's on-line book and so far that has been very helpful. Lots of practice is better than just being given table after to table to memorize! I would be curious to hear how things go as you progress through the course Philip. I would ...

Institute of Biblical Greek and Biblical Language Center

I am curious if anyone has used these resources? http://www.biblicallanguagecenter.com/ or www.biblicalgreek.org/ I don't think formal classes are in the cards for me in the near future so I was considering doing the year long online course at the Biblical Greek Institute and using the books from Th...

How hard is switching pronunciations?

Howdy, I have been learning Greek with Erasmian pronunciation so far and was wondering if at some point I wanted to switch how difficult would it be? I'd like to do a fluency program at some point (most using non-Erasmian pronunciation), but it's just not in the cards at the moment (though the Polis...

Re: James Lewis

Welcome James!

I was just checking out where you teach online, that looks pretty interesting. Can non-Episcopalians attend classes? I look forward to interacting with you on the forums!

Re: Howdy!

Thanks for the greetings!

Michael,

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, getting to talk to others would be helpful. Right now I am mostly pushing on by myself along with what I can read on the internet and that can be tricky.

Re: Reading Other Greek

Yeah, that's why I'm trying to use Athenaze and JACT besides some NT grammars. That and I think an approach like Mounce's is crazy as a standalone attempt to learn Greek. I want to be able to actually sit and read Greek not just translate it in a very technical fashion and classical grammars seem to...

Nice free resource on iTunes

Howdy, On iTunesU you can download recordings from Concordia Seminary's Greek Club. The recordings are of Dr. Jeffrey Gibbs reading through and giving some explanations of Greek NT passages. I sat and listened while following along in my Greek NT and I found it pretty helpful despite being a beginne...

Howdy!

My name is Jeremy. I live in Missouri. I have been on and off attempting to learn Greek for a few years now, and joined the forums thinking they might be helpful. I am intending to go to seminary in a few years and would perhaps like to teach in the future. Any questions, just ask!
