Conditional in Joh 18,36

Dear Greek-friends, currently I'm reading the thesis of Prof. Gerry Wakker on Conditions and Conditionals, but I still have no clue how to distinguish present or past conditionals being irreal. For example I'd like to know whether Joh 18,36 is a present or past Irrealis: εἰ ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου τούτου ἦν ἡ...

Mat 16,18 Πέτρος - definitely a proper Name here?

Dear friends, is it absoluty sure that Jesus uses the word Πέτρος in the sense of a proper name in the following Verse: BYZ Matthew 16:18 Κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω, ὅτι σὺ εἶ Πέτρος, καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν, καὶ πύλαι ᾍδου οὐ κατισχύσουσιν αὐτῆς. I think it's possible that he allu...

Re: temporal conditions of the Future Perfect (2x in Matthew

ok, maybe you could supply me with an address, where I can get access to such a corpus, Randall. In the meantime I could highly recommend the new book of J. Joosten on the Hebrew Verbal System (Eisenbrauns). I think you'd be happy with it. I haven't read anything better.

Re: temporal conditions of the Future Perfect (2x in Matthew

Dear Stephen and Randall, ok, my own thoughts went in the same direction, but I wasn't sure at all. The flow of thoughts were strange, if Matthew had in mind, that first were the decicion in heaved followed by the action on earth. >If I remember correctly one can get about 4000 hits in rabbinic lite...

temporal conditions of the Future Perfect (2x in Matthew)

Dear friends, I'm heavily interested in two examples of Periphrastic Future Perfects in Matthew: Matthew 16:19 Καὶ δώσω σοὶ τὰς κλεῖς τῆς βασιλείας τῶν οὐρανῶν· καὶ ὃ ἐὰν δήσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ἔσται δεδεμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· καὶ ὃ ἐὰν λύσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ἔσται λελυμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς. "And I will g...

Re: Monographs on Greek Conjunctions ?

Hello Rick, I obtained the Levinsohn-Festschrift some months ago. Very good essays in it. I only don't know if the view of Campbell on the Greek Perfect is right. I really don't know, but maybe I don't understand everything. All other essays are interesting and I agree with it. Then I recommend the ...

Re: Monographs on Greek Conjunctions ?

Dear Friends, Runge/Levinsohn is in already in my possesion - I like both, but I just ordered the book on "Greek Particles" as reverence work. Heckert is not available at Amazon, I have to ask my bookstore to get it for me, if possible. But the content seems to be very limited to the most famous con...

Re: Monographs on Greek Conjunctions ?

Dear Stephen,
thank you - a great book - I've read it already. My concern is just to have such a work for *all* conjunctions, a monograph prefered.
I appreciate your answer, as it could have been that I have *not* readt it, but so I can underline your recommendation.
Any more hints ?
Yours
Peter
