Re: Back up and running - using phpBB 3.2 now
Thank you for spending your time and energy fixing the site, and for all that you do behind the scenes! Great job!

A Greek Journal
I intend to use this thread as a means for writing simple Greek compositions on a regular basis. At first my compositions will have no obvious focus and will likely involve a brief event in my day that I think I can put into good Greek. After I get into the habit of composing regularly, I will begin...

Re: Reader's Editions of the Greek New Testament
I like the NET NA27, reviewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0OYp-84zLc It's a diglot, English on one page, Greek on the other. The translation notes are an added bonus. Using a diglot works better for me than a reader. I can keep my brain in Greek mode even if I need to glance at the Engli...

Re: Acts 2:22-23
It looks to me like the Ἰησοῦν τὸν Ναζωραῖον in vs. 22 is the direct object of ἀνείλατε at the end of vs. 23. If pressed, I would say that the direct object of ἀνείλατε is τοῦτον, but I would also be the first to admit that I don't see much difference between the labels. Is that correct? If so, it ...

Re: Reflexive pronoun and Possessive adjective
Maria, first let me say that I didn't have a malicious intent with my first post. I'm not saying you thought I did, but my post was ambiguous. Clarification never hurts on a forum. Did God allow polygyny in OT but changed it in NT here in 1 Corinthians 7:2? While it is certainly helpful to understan...

Re: BBQ imagery - Jn. 21:9 ὀψάριον ἐπικείμενον καὶ ἄρτον
At the very least, I imagine any interaction at all is better than a soliloquy Turn taking is a conversational strategy that is familiar to people from English speaking countries being socialised early on, but it is a learnt rather than innate communicative strategy. In some cultures the preference...

Re: Reflexive pronoun and Possessive adjective
If I were making a case for Biblical polygamy, I would most likely start here: καὶ εἶπεν Ναθαν πρὸς Δαυιδ Σὺ εἶ ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ ποιήσας τοῦτο· τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ᾿Εγώ εἰμι ἔχρισά σε εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ Ισραηλ, καὶ ἐγώ εἰμι ἐρρυσάμην σε ἐκ χειρὸς Σαουλ καὶ ἔδωκά σοι τὸν οἶκον τοῦ κυρίου σου καὶ τὰς...

Re: The role of οὗτός in 2 John 7
I'm not intending to take your thread a different direction, but there appears to be something else you *may* have missed in your initial translation. (I found your last few lines unintentionally vague, so if I misread them please forgive my intrusion.) What type of participle is ἐρχόμενον? What was...

Re: BBQ imagery - Jn. 21:9 ὀψάριον ἐπικείμενον καὶ ἄρτον
Good news / bad news. The bad news is that I didn't have anything useful in my notes. I thought that I might because I remember making note of different ways of saying 'daily bread'. The good news is that I took a few minutes to dig up anything that I could find that I thought you might find useful,...
