Dewayne Dulaney-Devenios Doulenios
χαίρετε, ὦ ἑταῖροι και φίλοι! πῶς ἔχουσι; I'm happy to be a member here at B-Greek and would like to introduce myself. My first exposure to Greek was in 1969 or 1970 while a high school student in West Monroe, Louisiana. I was a member of the White's Ferry Road Church of Christ, which sponsored a p...

Re: How Do You Accent Personal Names in the LXX?
Unless there was an LXX list message on the topic I didn't see, the messages didn't deal with my particular question. While knowing why they were not provided with accent marks is of some interest, the issue is how to pronounce these when reading aloud.

Re: Learning Greek on one's own: Answer Keys
Speaking of answer keys, does anybody know if there is an answer key for the Greek composition exercises in the back of Dana and Mantey's intermediate NT Greek grammar?

Re: How Do You Accent Personal Names in the LXX?
Recently I have doing some reading in the LXX of 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles and noticed that even in accented edtions (both the print edition of Rahlf's and online at Unbound Bible), the names of people are not given accent marks.... Devenios Doulenios Δεβἐνιος Δουλένιος Of course I meant to write Ra...

How Do You Accent Personal Names in the LXX?
Recently I have doing some reading in the LXX of 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles and noticed that even in accented edtions (both the print edition of Rahlf's and online at Unbound Bible), the names of people are not given accent marks. As I am considering recording some LXX passages (for personal practice,...

Re: Origen's Hexapla Available
Mine says on the title page of the first volume: OXONII: E TYPOGRAPHEO CLARENDONIANO. M DCCC LXXV I believe the edition you mentioned was in the 1820's, so this is evidently an earlier edition. Seems to have the same editors as yours, except with the addition of Field. Devenios Doulenios Δεβένιος Δ...

Re: Origin's Hexepla Available
Salve, amice Barie, χαιρε ω φιλε Βαριε I have a pdf of the edition by Field, which I believe I found on Internet Archive or Google Books. Do you know what the differences are between the two editions? Would it be worthwhile to have both? Vale, ερρωσο Devenios Doulenios Δεβένιος Δουλένιος P.S. I beli...

Re: Reading Greek beyond the basics: Saturation style
χαῖρε, Jonathan, ὦ φίλε μου! As a former Erasmian, I agree that not being able to hear a difference between ημιν and υμιν can make things seem more difficult at first. It did for me initially. But combining reading the text and hearing it helps with this because you see (and hear) the pronouns in co...

Re: Reading Greek beyond the basics: Saturation style
Jonathan, I would recommend the the greeklatinaudio.com site. I have used it online, and now have the CD (not free, but cheap), which I imported into iTunes. Am about to start using it for the Gospel of John for devotional readings. As for the Modern Greek pronunciation issue, a couple of points: 1....
