Re: Acts 15:20 and πορνείας
FWIW, P (Papyrus) 45 actually omits καὶ τῆς πορνείας, along with the Ethiopic. There are several variants for just this list (Ä = Ethiopic): https://ntvmr.uni-muenster.de/ecm?verse=Acts.15.20&segment=22-36 Evidently either the verse was expanded at different points, or the variants above are due...

Re: Should πρὸ δὲ τούτων πάντων read "before all these things" or "above all these things"?
Don't believe "above" makes any sense in the context of Luke 21:10 onwards; "Before all these things (take place)" corresponds to what will occur in a future time as described in Luke 21:10-11, and what is mentioned in v12 onwards will occur "before" them, or "ahea...

Re: Question. 1 Corinthians 15:52 … καὶ οἱ νεκροὶ ἐγερθήσονται ἄφθαρτοι
is there any reason why the following translation could not be used? “and the incorruptible dead shall-be-raised”. Yes. For it to say "the incorruptible dead" the sequence of the noun and adjective would have to be either: οἱ ἄφθαρτοι νεκροὶ or οἱ νεκροὶ οἱ ἄφθαρτοι Compare the Greek of J...

Re: Matt 1:2 article usage
Incidentally there is the genealogy of Noah in Gen 10 and in the LXX in places it follows the same practice as Matthew - τόν for אֶת It does appear that nearly every instance of אֶת has an accusative definite article in the Greek (both singular and plural) when it comes to the genealogy in Genesis ...

Re: Hebrew Font
Oh - didn't realise that!
Could the font size be increased a bit? Currently on 110% - 130% shows it nicer
Guess I could do a custom CSS on my browser for this site...

Hebrew Font
I know it doesn't get used quite as often to really justify a request as this, but perhaps a nice Hebrew font which can be used when put between [heb][/heb] wouldn't be too difficult to implement?

Re: Matt 1:2 article usage
Middleton may be right in appealing to Hebraic usage, or at the very least this is based on the LXX. I know he points to 1 Chron 6:4, but he really didn't need to go that far into Chronicles to see. 1 Chron 1:10 (Hebrew followed by LXX) וְכ֖וּשׁ יָלַ֣ד אֶת־נִמְר֑וֹד ה֣וּא הֵחֵ֔ל לִהְי֥וֹת גִּבּ֖וֹר ...

Re: ECM Mark 8:35
I seem to recall that after/around the time of the new testament the eta and the epsilon-iota diphtong were merging in sound which could cause some confusion between the subjunctive and the future. Indeed, this is very true. There's more than a few places where η and ει could've been confused, some...
