Re: The Perennial Question: Best Intermediate Grammar Text?
Two Intermediate Grammars I like: 1. Coderch (see this post, and the previous page in the thread) viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1897&hilit=Coderch&start=10 2. Thompson (see this post) viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2987&hilit=+Thompson I was stunned to find out today that Coderch has made this ava...

Brian, You are a determined learner! Here are some suggested resources to look into. Smyth, H. W. (1920). A Greek grammar for colleges. Retrieved from www.textkit.com It is a comprehensive reference grammar with a very good index. It’s the sort of book I found so valuable that I printed and bound it...

Re: Convert from Erasmian
Bringing the thread back on track... develop a pronunciation scheme that consistently pronounces accents on the syllables the accent occurs. Correct accent is more important than people realize, I think. To illustrate it, take an English word and mispronounce the accent. Take the same word and mispr...

You won't find any scholarly SLA articles about the use of composition to learn language, at least not in the sense we think of with Greek composition . Is that true? Paul Nation (quoted earlier in this thread), in talking about his four strands of language acquisition/learning, has output as one o...

Re: "I just don't think it makes you a better exegete ... " Theology, exegesis, and Learning Koine Greek Communicatively
I had improved so drastically myself as compared to what I had been able to do before. I had learned Greek through 4 years of Grammar Translation in college. Years later, I began to teach Greek the only way I knew how. Though I was teaching Greek, my advances were minimal. Then I began learning and...

Interesting blog. To sum it up, I think it is saying that there is value in discussing theology in Greek because at the same time a) it limits your vocabulary and thought to the target language and b) through the discussion in Greek you advance your understanding of Greek. I hadn’t thought of it in ...
