English to Koine Greek Lexicon

Hi all, I recently made an English to Greek lexicon online by inverting concordances to NT, LXX, Josephus, JDT, Eusebius, Epictetus, and the Apostolic fathers that I generated with Accordance. Find it here: https://www.koinegreek.com/koine-greek-dictionary There are a couple issues. I do not know co...

Re: Intro - David Wyman

Welcome David!

I have some contacts at or associated with SBTS and also have a good friend who may be coming soon to do a PhD (who does communicative Greek!).

I would be happy to help in any way that I can with the group you are starting!

FILM TRAILER in Koine Greek: The Martyrdom of Polycarp

I am really excited to announce that next month (early next month) I am planning on releasing the first (that I'm aware of) Koine Greek animated mini-film based verbatim on an ancient Greek text (23 minutes in length). I have more to say here along with a trailer: https://www.kainediatheke.com/blog/...

If you can spring for it, the new readers edition LXX from Hendrickson is a real pleasure.

Re: The pronunciation of the Classical Greek stops β δ γ in Koine Greek AFTER NASALS

I like the historical pronunciation too, but I see little hope that the guild will change for several reasons. 1. There's no training in pedagogy for their Greek teachers. Some schools just have their grad students do the teaching. 2. Classicists won't adopt the Koine pronunciation. Many of those d...

Re: The pronunciation of the Classical Greek stops β δ γ in Koine Greek AFTER NASALS

I don't think its fraught in any sense of technical difficulty. For the most part, I think the phonology of the period is extremely well established, though of course, there is so much that can and needs to be done a dialectology for not only Palestine, but also Asia Minor. Ah, I see what you mean....

Re: The pronunciation of the Classical Greek stops β δ γ in Koine Greek AFTER NASALS

Well, I like the Trajan data. That's lovely. As for the practical question, I don't know. In theory yes, but the topic is so fraught that it generally feels like a lost cause to even try. Randall has been working at it for decades and there hasn't been much change. Yeah, the Trajan thing is pretty ...

The pronunciation of the Classical Greek stops β δ γ in Koine Greek AFTER NASALS

I recently did a blog post (video in Koine Greek, written out in English) about the pronunciation of β δ γ following nasals in Koine Greek: https://www.kainediatheke.com/blog/koine-greek-video-blog-4-pronunciation-of-the-voiced-stops-%CE%B2-%CE%B4-%CE%B3-following-nasals-in-koine-greek I'd appreciat...
