Re: Randall Buth's Fluency Workshop
Like Louis, I was also at the Greek Fluency Workshop. Excellent summary, Louis. Thanks. This workshop was more laughter and learning than I have ever enjoyed before. I had already bought into the Communicative Method. Now I have experienced it. My decade long search for a Greek pedagogy that works i...

Re: Learning Greek Experience as a native Greek
Listening to the Liturgy of Chrysostom and memorizing its prayers due to the frequency of its occurrence helped tremendously. Nik - Thanks much for that description. I have tried in vain to find early Christian liturgies on the web. My thought was to make Greek liturgy a part of my devotional life....

Re: What Greek software is still unmade?
What can a computer program do? It can do audio and visual. A/V is good, but I'm coming to the conclusion that it's only a smidgen better than ink on paper. In fact, ink on paper instruction coupled with imagination is probably far better than the best A/V language helps (e.g. Rosetta). If I could h...

Re: Smyth "A Greek Grammar"
Back on the first page of this thread, there is a listing of places a person can find Smyth. Fourth post down on the page at this link: http://www.ibiblio.org/bgreek/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1020 There's a new place to get it, though I'm not sure it's worth it. Smyth's grammar is on "Pre-...

Re: Speaking Greek means digging into inflections
I appreciate CWC's comment. Inflection generating software doesn't seem a natural start for learning inflections. But maybe it has a function for quickly double checking forms. χωρις KALOS SOFTWARE, λογους τουτους εγω εγραψα ὑμιν. εαν εγω γραψῃ ποιησαντι KALOS, ποσῳ μαλλῳ γραψομαι ὑμιν; ποιησ...

Speaking Greek means digging into inflections
Speaking Greek means digging into inflections. Kalos free software can help. What is 3rd person Aorist Imperative of δεικνυμι? Kalos can find it in a minute. Enter δεικνυμι. Generate a full inflection, and voila! δειξάτωσαν PROS It will inflect any word, verb, noun, adjective, pronoun. The inflectio...

Re: James Asher's TPR Method and Greek Pedagogy
Thank you, Louis, for the explanation. You wrote that using Bible stories is not ideal. But isn't it a great motivation to be working toward comprehension of a real Greek text? What if we had a series of smaller, made-up stories that would build up to understanding the Bible story? The made-up stori...
