Re: Proofreading your Greek

And probably, if you have time, run your content by a friend who can read/write Greek so you have a second set of eyes. i.e., get someone else to proof-read your content.

Re: Looking up English words derived from Greek

So I looked at Buth's list and the one Carl referenced. I cannot find a reference to ἰατρός doctor . This is the word for 'doctor' from which we have the suffix -iatric and -iatrist.. Bariatric,Pediatric, Podiatrist, ktl. So I believe that this subject needs an update. I cannot believe that in 2015,...

Re: Looking up English words derived from Greek

Randall Buth sent me a file one called GreekCognates.pdf. It has 11 pages of Συγγενικαὶ Λέξεις. But the English gloss is only filled out for the alphas. That is the only list I know of....

Re: ποδήρη (Revelation 1:13)

The η is a contraction of ε-α. Note: the α is found in the singular m/f accusative, and also the neuter plural vocative, nominative, and accusative, and that gives that form several possible parsings. Look at this link: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/morph?l=alhqh&la=greek . Note the top fi...

Re: How hard to learn Latin?

Barry wrote I found beginning Greek more difficult than beginning Latin, but I found reading "real" Latin literature more difficult than Greek. Why? Latin, particularly Classical, is a relatively word poor language, so that individual lexical items tend have a wide semantic range. This can...

Re: Audio of Revelation?

I think a recording of Revelations in Buth's Restored Koine would be great. John Schwandt has recorded the whole NT Koine text in a restored Koine Greek pronunciation for Logos. Logos Software ( https://www.logos.com/product/45485/greek-pronunciations-dataset ) has recordings by John Schwandt of Era...

Re: How hard to learn Latin?

I never studied languages in High School. In 1976-1977, I learned NT Greek using Sumner's textbook taught by a classic grammar-translation teacher. I then took a 2nd year college Greek class studying Galations. The summer between my 2nd and 3rd year of college (1978), I went to the University of Min...
