01: Note 2
The examples in Note 2 probably need to be reworked for Koine. What examples should we use?

01: Note 1
Porterites, Campbellites, and Deckerites are much more common in NT circles than in Rijksbaron's circles. Would we need to modify this note?

01: The Semantic Value of the Tense Stems
Why does Rijksbaron chose to use the infinitive when he presents the five tense stems, rather than the principal parts? Why does he choose the future perfect? Why does he use the perfect middle for the perfect stem? Is there need for the future perfect stem? If we were writing this for Koine, would ...

As you see, I've created a new subforum and moved this topic there.

Re: Rijksbaron and the Greek New Testament
Sure. I'm might want to separate the material and discussion, like Wikipedia, but we can move posts to new topics as moderators, so it might just be nice to let things grow a bit organically. I think so. If we ever decide to actually write something along the lines of Wikipedia articles, we'd have ...

Re: Rijksbaron and the Greek New Testament
My first ideas for organizing the subforum: 1. Naming - "The Verb in Koine Greek", a nod to the subtitle of Rijksbaron's book 2. Organization * At least one thread for discussing what on earth we are doing at any given time * One thread for each section number used in the book, zero padded...

Re: Rijksbaron and the Greek New Testament
But it's rewarding. And the writer's good understanding about the subject matter shines through. Sometimes it seems that especially selection of the examples is a work of a genius. That, of course, makes selecting and explaining good NT (or rather Koine) counterparts challenging. Bingo. Which makes...

Re: New Testament Semitisms (Bible Translator Article)
Jonathan, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the text on the right side of the page is not viewable. And the section you cite does not appear to be included in the link you provided. On my browser, if you do a right mouse click over the image, it lets you open the image in a new tab. But ... I gu...

Re: Rijksbaron and the Greek New Testament
Is there a reason for limiting to Greek NT? Couldn't one also use the Apostolic Fathers, some of the LXX deuterocanonicals, and perhaps even Josephus and Philo? I can definitely see focusing on the GNT as the primary corpus, but when it doesn't have great or even good examples, why not spread out a...

New Testament Semitisms (Bible Translator Article)
I'd like to discuss an article I'm reading: “New Testament Semitisms”, David Alan Black, The Bible Translator 39/2 [April 1988], pp. 215-223. There's no complete version online, but a big chunk has been excerpted here . Here's the first part that caught my eye (you may need to view the image in a se...
