Re: Trivia: Which verse has the least / most number of words

I could be wrong, but I suspect that the least number of words occurs in Jn 11.35 ἐδάκρυσεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς.
I think this is the shortest verse in the English Bible, but that's a guess.

BTW, I am thinking in terms of # of letters, not words. I may have misunderstood the question.

I Thess

16 παντοτε χαιρετε

# of letters: 14

Not sure this is the lowest, but if not, it's a close 2nd.

Re: Perfect Active Indicative

Yes, I am getting confused myself. Sorry. What I do NOT like about Mounce's gloss for the Perfect Active is the emphasis on the past. The past is not the focal point of the Prefect. The "now time" is what we are looking for, the present moment? Here is the paradigm again: Here is Mounce: P...

LAMBANW: Breaking it down

Can someone show me how to move from A to B (in Greek), identifying the various changes along the way? (And perhaps point me to where I can learn how to type Greek into a post. I wouldn't know where to start.) A: LAMBANW B: EILHQA (Is this a Perfect Active Indicative of LAMBANW??) I reviewed this po...

Re: Word breaks

Eph 1.4 at the end, EN AGAPH, does it begin vs 5 or end vs 4? There are others, and I not sure how rare they are.

Perfect Active Indicative

Sorry my Greek text did not transfer over??? I still haven't figured that out. Just in case that is frustrating to you, it is more so to me! But, my concern is with the way Mounce translates the Perfect Active Indicative. Mounce is not putting the focus on the present stage of the result of having b...

Re: What form(s) should be learned for verbs?

Interestingly, Wm Mounce does not have first year students learn accents in Basics of Biblical Greek. Perhaps he feels it is better for 2nd year students, who have enough Greek under their belts, to begin learning accents. Just a wild guess, although he doesn't seem to be too concerned with the acce...

Re: Galatians 1:7

οἱ ταράσσοντες

Hanna, in his Grammatical Aid to the GNT considers this article usage rather curious. He then adds that oi tarassousin is really required.

Any thoughts about this? I am a bit confused.
