Re: τέλειος, Salem, JeruSalem, Muslim.
χάρις σοι καὶ εἰρήνη, ὦ Σολομών. (Grace to you and peace, Solomon!) I’ve approved this initial post from you and want to welcome you to B-Greek online forum. It’s great to see that people are interested in the original languages of the biblical texts, and that’s something that keeps us going—we who...

Re: God and Mark 12:32
in the Greek text I have seen of Mark 12:32, the word theos does not occur. The English versions refer to God. Is the word theos in some Greek texts, or do the translators insert "God"? What Greek text have you seen? Are there variants for the verse? What English translations are you refe...

Re: John 3:36
I am curious about this particular text: ὁ πιστεύων εἰς τὸν υἱὸν ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον· ὁ °δὲ ἀπειθῶν τῷ υἱῷ οὐκ ὄψεται ζωήν, ἀλλʼ ἡ ὀργὴ τοῦ θεοῦ μένει ἐπʼ αὐτόν One question I have is that the son (υἱός) is expressed differently alongside the participles. The first instance is an accusative, used to ...

Re: Is there an historical sigma involved in ἱημι ?
Yes, I believe there is an historical sigma somewhere in the mix. Notice that both BrillDAG and LSJ mention a possible connection to a Latin cognate sēmen (though I don’t get any hits for sēmen in Diogenes).

Re: Rijksbaron and the Greek New Testament
Has anyone ever written an Introduction to Classical (or Attic) Greek for those who know the language of the NT, having mastered it in Bible College or Seminary, but now want to learn Classical? Someone who has studied only NT Greek should prepare for an overhaul of his Greek when he goes to study ...

Re: Vocative Article
In Ephesians 5:22 it has Αἱ γυναῖκες , in which I have now seen multiple interlinearies say the article Αἱ is vocative. Every grammar book I have read all say there is no such thing as a vocative article. Are these interlinearies wrong, or am I misunderstanding what the Grammar books are saying? Th...

Re: Introduction
In my first semester, we basically went through the alphabet, o Nouns, η Nouns, το Nouns. The different morphology for the verbs (number, voice, mood, person, tense), and what is aspect. The second semester basically builds on that. It covers verbal aspect, infinitives, particles, and conjunctions....
