Re: FILM: Gospel of Mark in Koine Greek (Lumo Project - Faith Comes by Hearing - KaineDiatheke.com)
Hi Matthew, Thank you for the comment. I have not yet decided what I want to end up doing with the recordings long term, and so keeping them listenable only on the website for now seems like the best option at the moment. It may change in the future. It also allows me to gauge/keep track of interest...

FILM: Gospel of Mark in Koine Greek (Lumo Project - Faith Comes by Hearing - KaineDiatheke.com)
I have a favor to ask the B-Greek community... I am really excited to let you know that I am partnering with Faith Comes by Hearing (as an affiliate of the Lumo Project) to help make a Koine Greek version of the Gospel of Mark film. I am now in the stage where I am asking different people to review ...

Re: Saying, if this is a question?
I would not be surprised if it was a bit of a dialectal or register thing. Classical and literary Koine can use αρα or η, but they are not as common in the New Testament (except in some perhaps high register contexts; see BDF §440). One might also note the fact that in Hebrew אם 'if' or האם is often...

Re: "I just don't think it makes you a better exegete ... " Theology, exegesis, and Learning Koine Greek Communicatively
Not too long ago someone posted a link to an article discussing research on language acquisition which concluded that composition didn't contribute significantly to acquisition. Reading and comprehending large volumes of text written by native speakers was the main factor in acquisition. You won't ...

Re: "How do we know how Koine Greek was pronounced?"
How did you produce that video? The hand looks like it was automated somehow. How hard is this kind of presentation to do? In a longer video, I assume you would admit that there are some areas of ambiguity in what we know ;-> I used a service called Explee with the educational license. It took me r...

Re: New Testament Audio Texts
I thought I would just add the link to my website in this thread, since it includes parts of the New Testament (mainly Luke and Mark) in the "Living Koine" pronunciation that are not anywhere else as far as I know:

Re: "How do we know how Koine Greek was pronounced?"
Thanks for the feedback! It's well taken. Yes, that is of course a very good question. I actually have a number of those that came up for me as I was making the video and I just kept telling myself, "I need to keep this at about 2 minutes" :) Eventually I do plan to make a much longer vide...

"How do we know how Koine Greek was pronounced?"
"How do we know how Koine Greek was pronounced?" I have heard this question come up in a number of different contexts. Sometimes it is from those outside of the field just interested in my work. At other times, I think this question comes up by those who are wondering what the best/right p...
