Re: εὐδόκησα in Matthew 3:17

Mitch, Will send you a PM re Hebrew here this weekend, probably tomorrow. There are a couple of ways to send PMs here on the forum. 1. If you are logged in, at the top right of the forum window, you'll see your username. Click on that and you'll see User Control Panel (link). Click on that and it wi...

Re: εὐδόκησα in Matthew 3:17

It might seem counter-intuitive, Mitch, but learning Hebrew will also help you with your Greek, particularly the Koine of the Greek Bible. I have experienced this first hand when working with both languages, particularly when working with the LXX. Also this was the case when learning to understand s...

You have to understand what it says in one language, then think about how to say the same thing in another language. ...

Re: daily email digest

Jason, I tried just now with the feedburner link (in your post) to sign up for the digest, but got a 404 error. I tried direct signup next and entered ibiblio.org/bgreek/forum/ in the proxy box and got the "unknown error" message. I also tried with the full B-Greek url but got the same err...

Re: daily email digest

I used to get the digest too. I wouldn't mind having it again. Although I do check the site almost daily for new posts. I do get notifications of replies to topics I'm following, which is helpful.

That sounds like a really helpful work! Do you know yet which electronic formats it will be available in?

Re: ἐκ in John 1:35

Sam, I believe you are being thrown off a little by the differences in Greek and English word order here. In fact, Young's Literal does translate εκ here, as does every major (and minor) English translation. Check a site such as Bible Gateway to confirm. Most all say "two of his disciples"...

Re: Poking the hive.... a question about using an interlinear

Stephen is right about the usefulness of an analytic lexicon. Another online source that is helpful is http://www.greekdoc.com/bible/index.html. It has the parsing info and also brief lexicon entries on the meanings.

Re: Differentiating Aorist and Imperfect 3rd person singular liquid verbs

Very useful indeed. I've tried Wiktionary a few times to check Latin noun case endings, which was indeed useful. I didn't know you could also check Greek grammar with it. Will add it to my resources also.
