Re: Matt 2:18 ὅτι οὐκ εἰσίν ... historical present?
In my reading today I came across εισιν seemingly used as a past tense at Acts 4:13 where it says: "Θεωρουντες δε την του Πετρου παρρησιαν και Ιαωνου, και καταλαβομενοι οτι άνθρωποι αγράμματοι εισιν και ιδιωται, εθευμαζον, επιγινωσκον τε αυτούς ότι συν τω Ιησου ήσαν,..." Please forgive my ...

Mike you say; "This leaves me in the awkward place where I have to ask: "What do you think Robertson's conception of Aktionsart was?"" Mike, it is a revelation to me that there is debate about what Robertson says/means by Aktionsart. I consult Robertson for my NT grammar question...

Re: Matt 3:2 μετανοεῖτε
Mike, just to clarify, my first language was Gobbledygook and I've been told I spoke it right from the crib! I still revert to it often as I try to speak English.

Mike thanks for your questions! I speak more English than I understand so I'll do my best to clarify my questions! 2.) My understanding is that with imperatives Aspect is involved and not Aktionsart. I know these two terms get mixed together so my perspective is Aktionsart is what A. T. Robertson wo...

Re: Matt 3:2 μετανοεῖτε
At Revelation 3:19 the aorist is used and I note that BDAG gives the gloss μετανόησον = take counsel with yourself but I wonder if "show yourself repentant" or "show repentance" are possible so as to reflect the active voice? I realize that BDAG's gloss seems to reflect a middle ...
